College Park Garden Collective

The College Park community garden was initiated by management of the Sherbrooke Community Centre and members of the College Park area. Established in 2011 under the guidance of the City of Saskatoon’s Urban Garden Project and CHEP Good Food Inc., it continues to serve families in the neighborhood who have an interest in growing some of their own food.

The garden is located on the west side of the Gerhard Herzberg Park directly behind the Sherbrooke Community Centre (SCC). The SCC residents and staff no longer have a direct involvement with the garden, but the staff of Cosmo Industries on Acadia Drive have stepped up to manage the above ground garden beds and thereby provide a gardening experience for their participants.

Of the other 59 garden plots, most are gardened by long term members, but there is a turnover and we get to meet and welcome new gardeners every year - seldom turning anyone away.

One of our mandates is to be benefit to the community.  Many passersby remark on the beauty of the space and stop to chat. On occasion we involve students from the schools in the area in some of our garden projects.

Residents of College Park interested in becoming a gardener – no experience necessary, but possibly helpful – may contact us directly.
